Lovely Addition

"What's the good of news if you don't have a sister to share it with?"

In Zeta Rho, that is not the case. Our sisterhood thrives off close, and meaningful relationships between remarkable girls. Our chapter keeps growing, and with this growth comes the addition of lovely new sisters.

On April 20th, the spring 2012 pledge class was initiated into our wonderful chapter. These lovely ladies are now part of our strong bond, that will forever stand true.
These 14 ladies are not only gorgeous, smart, but truly a special group.

During Initiation week, or as we like to call it I-week, there were various activities held. On Monday, the entire chapter was invited to get Froyo at Tutti Frutti after the chapter meeting. Sisters bonding over froyo? Sounds like the perfect setting. On Tuesday, the seniors and the new pledge class had a pizza party at the house, allowing them to connect even more. Living at the house you were able to hear the loud voices and giggling all night long. On Wednesday, the chapter got together and made thank you cards for our wonderful House Staff. We thought it was important to thank these wonderful people that work so hard to make sure we always feel at home at the Gamma Phi Beta house. On Thursday, the initiated members were at the house, while the new members took a trip down to the park. I assume that the idea was to get some "studying" done. However, somehow their studying turned into  This.. They are pretty awesome, we know.

At last, here are our beautiful newly initiated members to the Zeta Rho Chapter!

Stomping Gamma Phis

"Now Who They Want!"

April 11th was a date that was awaited by many. It was the night of Stompfest.

Stompfest is a competition between seven sororities here at Texas A&M. Each Sorority was assigned a sorority or a fraternity from the NPHC council, and they served as our coaches. Teaching us their traditional steps, we created an entire show that consisted of dance routines and commercials.

Gamma Phi practiced for over 6 weeks, 4 days a week, two hours a day. Needless to say, perfection was our goal.

And this, we did achieve. The day of the show was an exciting day. By 5 PM we were in hair and make up, waiting to get on stage for show run through and await our performance. At 630 PM, we sat down in the auditorium as it filled up. From the looks of it, the show was sold out, or pretty close to it. Rudder auditorium was filled with Greeks and their friends waiting to cheer each other on.

The performance went smoothly. All the performers can attest that our adrenaline was through the roof, making our performance fly by, literally. But once it was done, it was the most amazing feeling to hear the hundreds of people cheering us on.

Unfortunately, we did not place. But that's alright! The talent that was at Stompfest was incredible, and we wished a big congratulations to the Sororities that did place.

I hope this has made all of you want to watch our show. Wait no more, here is our Gamma Phi Beta Stompfest 2012: How She Move

Enjoy!

Until next time,

Aggies & Gamma Phis Give Back

March came and went, faster than any of us could have imagined.
With it, it brought plenty of exams, chapter meetings, socials, and in this month particularly, lots of service.
Community service that is.

Every March, Texas A&M University holds a big event, in order to serve the local Bryan/College Station area. This event, by the name of "The Big Event", is one that never seizes to amaze people. Over 17,000 students sign up for this yearly, with the intention of doing manual labor to help make our local community even better.

This year Gamma Phi Beta teamed up with the Aggie Men's Alliance (AMA), and gladly contributed to this great cause. Together, they did things from working outside and raking leaves, to painting walls and redecorating a home.

When asking the opinions on Big Event, the sisters of Gamma Phi have only positive things to say.

"It makes me feel like I'm actually being helpful to these people I don't even know"
"It's so rewarding to see the look of gratitude on these people's faces to have us all there"
"I love it, I look forward to doing it every year because I know that I can make a difference even if it is one just this one day"

These are only some of the positive feedback heard from the ladies of Gamma Phi.

One of our four core values as Gamma Phi Betas is "Labor", and service is one of our top priorities. We encourage every sister to participate in Big Event, as is it not only a phenomenal way to service the community, but it is also fun to mix with a men's organization all to just help a great cause.
Big Event was a success this year, and we have no doubt in our mind that every year will just be getting better, and better.

Till next time,

The Sisters of Gamma Phi Beta at Texas A&M .

Spring is Back

Spring is Back

Howdy everyone! Happy first day of Spring :) Let's bring on the sunshine and the beautiful weather.

The beginning of Spring marks two things: 1. We are that much closer to Summertime!! and 2. Spring Break has just ended.

While I'm sure everyone misses that heavenly week, there is no doubt in my mind that it was a memorable week for everyone. Whether you went home and relaxed, went on a family trip, or traveled to a beach nearby with your sisters, Spring Break is a much needed time for college students nationwide.

Just last week there were a ton of schools that were also on break. Alabama, Baylor, OU, and even T.U. among some. Us Aggies work so hard during the year, that this Spring Break is more than deserved!

Within our chapter, there were various favorite destinations for the break. They range from your popular Gulf Shores, Alabama; South Padre Island; Panama City Beach; to Corpus Christi, to even Israel!

Here are some adorable Crescents and Gamma Phis at various Spring Break destinations!

If this is just for a week long break, imagine the fabulous places our sisters will be traveling this summer!

Although Spring Break is merely just a tease of the summer, there are roughly 8 weeks left of the semester before the uttermost awaited break of the year..... SUMMER.

Hang in there everyone!

Until next time,

The Sisters of Gamma Phi Beta at Texas A&M.

FOUNDED upon a Rock!

Happy Founders Day!!!
11/11/11

As our new members know very well by now, Gamma Phi Beta was founded at Syracuse University on November 11, 1874 by four amazing women!

Helen M. Dodge, Francis E. Haven, E. Adeline Curtis, Mary A. Bingham

"Since the rock is the firmest and most enduring substance, able to withstand the ravages of time, and offering the strongest protection, it seemed fitting that Gamma Phi Beta should be thus founded. Protecting, like the rock, those who enter our fold, a sure help in time of need, enduring to the end time - this is the wish for Gamma Phi Beta from one of the Founders."
- Eunice Adeline Curtis, Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, 1912

GAMMA PHI'S SUPPORT THE FIGHT AGAINST CANCER

The women of Gamma Phi Beta took time out of their Saturday morning to participate in 5K FOR RELAY to support the fight against cancer. The 5K took place in Lot 50 and went around the Texas A&M golf course. Over 20 girls participated and made the morning a memorable one. Sisters walked, jogged, ran, or brought their furry pets and finished the run off with some Red Mango at the finish line.
We've all been touched by cancer, directly or indirectly, or have lost a loved to the disease, but having a sister by your side makes the journey not so lonely. Sisters, you are not alone!
LET'S FIGHT BACK TOGETHER
